Bio
Singer/songwriter Jessie Kay has lived in Nashville, TN for over four years now. Before taking up residence in Music City, she was making the drive to Tennessee every other weekend (for over a year) from her home state of Michigan to attend jam sessions and to perform for local festivals and fairs. Through mutual friends, Jessie started to attend jam sessions in Cookeville where she performed many different covers from classic rock to country. Every other Saturday she, along with many other talented musicians, would start performing at 6 in the evening until wee hours in the morning. She is known for being the "little girl with the big voice" and the one "that if you tied her hands to her sides, she wouldn't be able to sing a note." Jessie has covered a wide range of artists that include Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Beatles, Miranda Lambert, Eagles, Guns & Roses, Queen, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith, Journey, Michael Jackson, 4 Non Blondes, Bob Seger, Bon Jovi, Brooks & Dunn, Cam, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton, Dixie Chicks, Emmylou Harris, Janis Joplin, Jessi Colter, Kacey Musgraves, Lacy Dalton, LeAnn Rimes, Maren Morris, Lindi Ortega, Little Big Town, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Garth Brooks, Melissa Etheridge, Nancy Sinatra, Patty Loveless, Pistol Annies, Sugarland, Jeannie Riley, Loretta Lynn, Joan Jett, Cheap Trick, Willie Nelson, Shania Twain and many others.
During her time spent driving from Michigan to Tennessee (every other weekend), she along with her close friend William, performed at festivals that include, Poke Sallet Festival in Gainesboro, Tennessee, Folk Medicine Festival in Red Boiling Springs, TN and Moonshine Daze Festival in Celina, TN. She also performed at Wilson County Fair with the Muddy River Band in Lebanon, TN in 2015 and again in 2017 with musicians Derek, Robert and Rusty. Not only did Jessie make her rounds at the local festivals, but she also had the privilege to sing at jam sessions that included some of Grand Ole Opry's finest members. Back in her home state of Michigan, Jessie also had the honor to perform a couple songs during her hometown's very own Glad Peach Festival and the Miss Coloma pageant where Jessie was crowned first runner up for Miss Coloma 2006. Other gigs include, weddings, private events and local contests.
Her parents have commented that Jessie has always been drawn to music. "Jessie started humming melodies to songs we listened to on the radio before she could even talk. However, after she learned to talk she would rehearse different songs and then perform concerts for the family. Sometimes, against her brother's will, she would perform more than once a day."
These days, Jessie is working and enjoying life down in Nashville with her husband and her pets. She is writing her own music and collaborating with some of Nashville's finest songwriters. Some of that music will soon be shared since Jessie is looking into getting some studio time to record some demos this upcoming year.
